Empoderando Familias is a day of food, fun, and community education. This event helps equip Latinx families with the tools they need to navigate mental health and substance use challenges. Workshops are entirely in Spanish and offer a unique perspective of how culture and language intersect with family support systems. Past workshop topics include:
❖ 1: Prevention with Purpose
Learn to identify early warning signs of substance use and gambling while understanding risks, recognizing the impact of mental health, and learning effective communication.
❖ 2: Supporting Our Youth
Discuss how to support our youth as parents, guardians, and teachers through activities and practical exercises. Engage in conversation with a therapist from Raíce de Bienestar.
Explore how identity, culture, and community form the foundation of lasting well-being. Reflect on the roots that keep you grounded and learn how to strengthen them through practical actions.
It’s normal to worry when your teen starts spending less time with family as they journey towards independence. Discuss how to navigate this change and maintain a close relationship during this process.
